The patent was, of course, granted under the name of Samuel L. Clemens.

interesting that Twain should invent a clasp for a garment that did not exist until 4 years after his death.

Mary Phelps Jacobs is credited with inventing the modern brassiere on November 3, 1914 and Mark Twain died April 21, 1910

What Samuel Clemens did invent was an adjustable hook and loop device as a replacement for the classic belt buckle. That device was later adapted for use as a bra clasp, but it was not the original intent

Correct me if I’m wrong but there is no Africa in the west/southern hemisphere.

The equator is a place, but the “Prime Meridian” is an agreed concept, and it hasn’t always run through Greenwich (only since 1884), so Africa hasn’t always been “in all four hemispheres”.

It doesn’t look like Africa is located in the southern west hemisphere.

Today we learned that there are a lot of people who do not understand the concept of hemisphere.

I doubt shark pups suckle not being mammals. Looks like Africa misses out on one hemisphere according to the diagram. So Mark Twain is to blame for that contraption…

The South Atlantic Islands of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha are considered part of the African continent. Thus it is attributed to be in the South West Quadrant also
