Typical. Here Edna was painting that nice fountain and pool, when this jerk decided to paint-bomb her work.
But clearly he failed to understand that just because you are part of the scene does not mean you will be part of the picture. Nor that Edna was a humor cartoonist for the early issues of PlayLady and was adept at drawing tiny, mishapen male sexual organs for laughs⌠and her likeness of his face would be spot on!
Yes, she thought to herself, that book Memoirs of Matilda had it spot on:
âAnd then revenge is very good eaten cold, as the vulgar say.â
Edna hadnât been planning to paint when she left the apartment this morning, but the mood had struck her as she was passing by the fountain. She wasnât certain whoâs easel it was.
âOkay now. This time Iâm painting YOU, big shot artist. Stop fidgeting, Mr. âKeep the Exact Same Expression!â And donât slouch like that. Sit up straight. Haaarrrr-UMPH!â
The Kleagle was quite the aesthete/ but insisted she paint in her sheet/ if the portrait was good / she would put on her hood / and bomb that black church up the street.

Fortunately Lucy came up with a harebrained plan that she and Ethel could use to get that painters license. Much hillarity ensued until Ricky showed up threatening to take his congas back to Cuba.

Edna knew that a still life always used dead animals, so her first portrait was no exception. Sheâd call it a Study in Stiff.
