Calvin is about to get the answer to his question.

If there is no afterlife there is no time in which we would have regrets.

When you get older, you realize you’ve wasted all those precious moments on the tv.

That would never fly in my house when I was a kid. If I got caught watching TV when I was supposed to be in bed — back I went, end of discussion!

Calvin, when Mom or Dad come down, tell them very politely and with all seriousness that this is the only life I get so I intend to use it to full advantage.

Well Calvin, if your life is slipping away, watching cartoons is a good thing. But I suspect that the only thing on that time of night is the test pattern. .

Yawn… TV is so overrated.

I think TV gets a bit of a bad rap. We are story telling, story loving creatures. Nobody gives you a hard time about going to see a play; why is it so awful to see what is essentially a video of a play?

Hudda thunk you could actually learn something by reading the often trite comments on comics. Thanks. Pascal’s Wager, an interesting concept. “If we wager that God exists and we are right, we win everything. If we wager that God exists and we are wrong, we lose nothing.” “You would be impudent,” Pascal said, “to wager that God does not exist.” So Pascal infers that if you wager that God does not exist, and you are wrong, you will suffer eternally."

Interesting conversations here – who’d have thunk it would be inspired by a 6 year old cartoon character?

Heck when I was a kid we only had broadcast stations and most of them signed off at midnight.

Putting the fear of god into a child is bullying bordering on abuse.

C’mon Calvin. Surely you can come up with more creative uses of that “limited” time.

Why is she waking her husband over this? Surely she can turn off the TV herself. Maybe she thinks it’s only fair that he be as sleep-deprived as she is.

Time’s a-wastin’ to start wasting time!

The main thing I wanted, in my youth, was a “no need to sleep” pill. I would have spent most of the extra time playing with my electric train or reading.

you need to sleep, sure you miss out on about a third of the day, but that’s better than dying from exhaustion in a week

Every once and a while weekend mornings, Dad’ll come in,slap my butt under the blanket, and growl, “Git up slap some bacon on a biscuit & let’s go, we’re burning daylight..!”
