This is it, for us anyway. Evolutionary change is so slow, that those involved can’t live long enough to realize it’s happening. It’s an old planet and it waits.

I don’t think cats would agree with Winslow.

The problem with pinnacles is there is no place to go but down.

Sadly Winslow, not everyone has empathy.

    Pinnacle? Spectacle?

    I think we’re being tested.

Pinnacle is a road two miles from here. Kudos to Stantis for inserting local references a few hundred readers might get.

If by pinnical you mean supremely adapted then sure, for the time being. So were the trilobites, sea scorpions, dinosaurs and mega-mammals at one time. We have the capacity to end our lives and most life on this planet. The intelligence along with large brain, large forward eyes and walk upright with hands that has thumbs is very dangerous and so much can go wrong. It is a supreme test that every intelligent species must face.

Coyotes were in North America long before the humans, and they’ll be here after we’ve gone. Coyotes were in North America before the wolves, and they’ll be here after the wolves have gone. (Canids originated in North America; wolves are basically coyotes that crossed the land bridge into Asia, got real big and spread into and across Europe, and then came back when the land bridge opened up again.)

Coyotes haven’t changed much physically over the last few hundred thousand years, but they’re highly adept at adapting their behavior to changed environments…
