This is a funny cartoon, but there are bills in at least 8 other states that are the same or more player-friendly that will be passed in the next year. It’ll come to enough states that the NCAA will have to capitulate with them, changing the by-laws to reflect that. So no, we’re not going to get rid of the Alabama football dynasty that way.
Maybe the NCAA will fight fire with fire: make all schools in those states ineligible for post-season play, be it bowl games or championship playoffs. That could have some verrrry interesting results.
Moving the University of Alabama to California – I would laugh like all hell if that actually happened; and it would say all that needs to be said about college sports.
Or after vehemently denying Nick Satan will move to take over the U.S.C. or U.C.L.A. job. The last name was spelled that way on purpose. Just ask fans of the Miami Dolphins, L.S.U. Tigers, and the Michigan State Spartans.

Pay them. As employees they won’t have to take up room in class.

I wonder how that California law meshes with the students’ amateur statuses with, say, the NCAA.

Don’t worry, the answer is right here on this table. Okay, it’s actually under the table, but you get the idea.

The California law has to do with the use of their likeness. If you are going to make money off of it, then the player should get a share.

That would lower the collective IQ of both states.
