Shortly after getting married my wife and I moved from Montreal to Ottawa. The big question was who’s parents back in Montreal to visit with the longest on Christmas day. My logic was to visit my parents the longest since they were in there late 70s and my wife’s were in their 50s and would be around a lot longer. Sadly my wife’s mom passed away just a couple of weeks later. I regret my decision to this day. Cherish your family! and friends.
I have never had this problem. When parents or in-laws came to visit, I would put them up in a nearby resort/hotel ( usually, the one I was managing at the time ). They had all the amenities and comfort and we had all the privacy.
All of my wife’s in-laws live over 1,000 mies away, so we are fairly well insulated from them. Except her cousin-in-law and her wife, they are visiting for the weeks and are more than welcome.
