If this strip is suppose to take place in the 50s/early 60s (Red watching Lassie/Superman on TV) then big brother’s long hair is totally out of place as during that time if your hair touched the top of your ears or collar you were likely sent home after getting a few swats from the Dean of Boys or the coach.

A very nice letter! I would have asked for the same things, if I were Rover!!A squeeky ball and a new chewing bone!!

Why not ask for both, Red?

Obviously that is the real Santa reading the letter as he can decipher a letter written (or paw printed) by a dog.

…And a lifetime supply of Milky Bones. He may already have that, though they’re not parceled out as fast as he would like.

Santa can read dog? That’s so cool, no wonder my dog Mickey, when I was a kid growing up, got so many gifts!

No self respecting dog, especially a Lab, would want to wear doggie clothes!
