Born there, left at five. Now that my last aunt has passed, I’m glad I never have to go there again, considering who they’ve elected to misrule the place.
Got the heck out as soon as I could. My community (Morriston) had a family living in a literal dirt-floor shack, their kids showing up for the school bus without shoes, in 1980 and no. One. Cared.
Local resident wintered in FL. Killed his wife, 3, kids and his DOG! while vacationing. Instead of staying there and claiming “Stand Your GROUND!”, he came back here and they arrested him. He should have stayed there and claimed they threatened him with Skittles!!!
My company relocated us to Tampa after 9-11. Unfortunately this comic is correct. The two biggest issues here are growth and the infrastructure not keeping up, and meth addicts are everywhere now.
Went to Florida twice after avoiding it for many years. Both times we had to change rooms in the hotel because it had not been properly cleaned and/or it appeared someone else was using it for something!
Lived in Jacksonville from June-December ’02; moving back to Illinois was one of the happiest days of my life!
And if you anything about the state of affairs in IL, you know that’s saying something!
At least I was there long enough to vote against Jeb……..
Don’t know what’s worse, the ugly-ass physical state itself, or the vast majority of the inhabitants. For a true look at Florida, read not only this strip, but Tim Dorsey’s wonderful “Serge Storms” books.
This has aged surprisingly well, maybe could use minor updating by removing the Bush reference and adding jokes about Mar-A-Lago and Trump renouncing his New York “citizenship” for Florida

we could have had a head-start on climate change if Inconvenient Truth had not been shafted by Dubya’s henchmen – maybe no bogus occupation of Iraq….

I reluctantly moved from Arizona to Florida in ’98 and was never so happy, as when I moved out 15 years later in 2013!
Even though I still maintain a legal resident address there, I have no plans on ever moving back.
Most of the people I knew in Florida have either died, or moved the hell out.

Something to consider… Donald Trump is now an Florida man. As he changed his residency from New York to Florida. So an Florida man is president…
