I refinanced my loan about 8 years ago when interest rates were at their bottom. The transaction took place in our kitchen and took less than an hour.

Actually, I think that’s called “investing” the castle (old time, obsolete use of the word).
Just to add to my comment from the Etymology Dictionary – The military meaning “to besiege, surround with hostile intent” also is from c. 1600.
