We got one in my room years ago. Nothing mentioned the chirp. In the middle of the night, it started. I was sure an insect was in my room & couldn’t locate it. Finally go t my Mom up. It still took us a while to locate it. We just took out the battery until it was time to get up. Then I had to go find a battery. At least after that, I knew what it was, but it was always in the middle of the night. Now they are directly connected to the power.
We replace them twice a year but if one chirps, they all get replaced anyway. About 8 yrs ago, we had an alarm system. It sounded like the smoke alarms and it was LOUD. It started making a noise and I was on the phone with the company for close to two hours, finally screaming that I was DONE with them and to cancel my service. I yanked out one of the cords. Still chirping. My husband got home right after that – it was a smoke alarm. Oops.
I had just purchased a home with a central alarm system. All smoke detectors and a panic button were sent to the main panel. Middle of the night…..BEEEEEEP. then nothing. several hours later again. I replaced all the batteries and still about every four hours that incessant beep. Since we were not using a service I didn’t think to check the main panel. After three days of that beep I realized it WAS the main panel. Replacing the batteries I had not hooked one alarm back to the main system. It kept beeping until I plugged that alarm back in!

Had that same problem. Used a spectrogram app on my phone and walked around to find where it was loudest.

Had the same problem once, turned out to be an old smoke alarm that was in the bathroom closet.

Might as well replace the batteries in all of them; if they did that they’d be done by now, and would not have to do the same thing next month.

If it is a smoke alarm. There are so many gadgets in one’s house that might start to beep.

at least we know they have plenty of smoke detectors in their house. but why not split up…they will find the faulty one quicker!

( Conspiratal whisper) I think Alexa or Echo is doing it to people now, on purpose, just to mess with them.
