THUMP! The set-man for Riffin Without A Script passes out from yesterdayâs overdose of cigar smoke
1-ROCK: Whatâs that diploma on the wall for and from what school and is it accredited or is it Canadian? BLONDIE: SHADDAP ALREADY! I gotta headacheâŚ
2-âŚbut the play must go on so if you must know, itâs not a diploma. Itâs a license.
3-ROCK: Like, to kill? Cool!
BLONDIE: I was gonna say âto drive a carâ but letâs go with your idea. That way I can knock off any character that gets on my nerves.
ROCK: I wish Iâd had one of those in Pillow Talk Doris Day was always making unwanted advances. I mean, unwanted because I was faithfully married at the time. I think.
BLONDIE: I bet that marriage was as chaste as Doris pretended to be.
ROCK: Yeah, she âchased but never âcaughtâ. HA!
BLONDIE: Donât make me use my license to killâŚ
Charlie Wise, who is writing and drawing the next Minit Mystery asked me to post this announcement by Mike from the Dick Tracy Facebook group.
Per Mike Curtis: NEW MINIT MYSTERY COMING- WITH A DIFFERENCE Weâve had Minit Mysteries before, with guest art and/or guest writers. What makes this one different? This adventure, focusing on Moon Maid, is both written AND drawn by the same creative talent- CHARLIE WISE. Charlie currently does a webcomic entitled GROOVY, KINDA, and is also known for his graphic novel BLUE MOON- LYSSA AND THE PIRATES. Charlie also did two issues of UTOPIA UNLIMITED for Palliard Press starring the BLUE MOON characters.
GROOVY, KINDA focuses on the lives and loves of the oddball denizens of Innesmount, Jefferson, including Edison Lighthouse, currently featured in DICK TRACY. You can read GROOVY, KINDA at www.groovykinda.org , and on tapas at https://tapas.io/series/534 . Charlieâs MINIT MYSTERY begins Sunday April 12 and runs for 15 days.
Adonis hasnât played an important part in a story for so long that heâs eligible for unemployment insurance.Even if it slows up the story, the point is to have him earn his keep.As a real old fan,itâs ironic that Tess spent the first 15 years or so scared to death of the dangerous life Dick led and was always t rying to get him to quit. Now sheâs part of that dangerous life.
A Background check on Shaky? OMG, hasnât Tess been in this srkip since the 30s, she should know all about Shaky and/or any offspring. Wow, that pending Minit Mystery really looks like a good time to take an early summer vacation. Can you say FUBARRED Kids?
Nothing wrong with some in-house sleuthing. And Tess is plainly right to be suspicious of the Shaky-McQueen axis.
But, still, Tess really should get Tracy and his team involved! That leaves her more in the clear from the start and adds substantilly more resources to the investigation than the Tracy Agency can muster on its ownâŚ.

Good morningâ˘, smoke-blowers!
Shaky is definitely bluffing, but it would be good to have clear evidence of that.

so everyone except shaky seeâs how dumb his plan is

Tess should tell the DA about Shakyâs claim. She has nothing to be afraid of, and it would take way Shakyâs only blackmail material.

Neil? There? In panel one, those dark areas? THOSE are shadows. They donât make fancy patterns on the covers of books. They just obscure vision.
And in panel three? On his face, above his lip, under his nose? Thatâs not a shadow either. ;)
