As Walter died in 1966, I guess he wanted no hippies in his amusement park? (How did Zhang Hong make a catheter? With a drinking straw?)

A part of Walt Disney’s dark side is that he reported several people to the House Un-American Activities Committee. Most of them had nothing to do with communism, but were just trying to unionize.

As for the heroic Dr. Zhang Hong:

I always felt the Disneyland policy was reprehensible, and, in itself, “unAmerican”…but Ripley’s characterization, with the flies, is pretty despicable, too.

When I was in Jr./High School our Church youth group went to Hill Top Research Laboratories to earn some money, for what I don’t recall, but we didn’t have to sniff feet. I remember smelling and/or tasting something though. I’m 66 yrs old so that’s been a few sniffs ago.

Those were the good days at Disneyland. My young brother-in-law was warned to tuck his shirt in his pants by an DL employee. Aww, for the good old days.

Zheng, not Zhang. And fortunately, the article I read clarifies that the suction was from a syringe not his mouth. gag
