Sorry snowflake. You’re not special. However, you are an individual. Be proud that you are a cog in the great machine of this nation. A tiny, totally replaceable, cog, but still in there somewhere. Stand up to be seen. Speak up to be heard. Shut up to be appreciated. …sigh
Of course you’re special, Adam. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you different. Here, have a Participant in Life trophy — it will make you feel better about yourself.
One day this coffee shop will be a location noted for the number of authors who got their start working there. People will come from around the world to see it and have their photo taken there -
“Which booth was Adam’s?”
“Where did Betty Bandana write her book?”
“Is it true that momma grey would sit behind Adam when he wrote – where were they?”
“Is this where Fed Ex Rocks was written – did the composer sing out loud as he worked?”
When I was 13 my parents took us on what we called the authors home tour to several authors’ homes in Connecticut and Massachusetts. After arriving home – being a budding author myself – I went around the house and made notes – “We need to put in a second staircase so when the tours come through they are allowed to go upstairs.” (One house we could not do so as there was only one staircase.) I drew diagrams of which room was where and who used it for what. Hence why the coffee shop as a future destination location for fans of the writers came to me.
