Whoever said that avoiding another meeting with Dick Tracy was one of the biggest reasons for Quiver’s reaction in yesterday’s strip seems to have been correct.
The way Quiver is drawn is very reminiscent of Rick Fletcher’s artwork on Dick Tracy in the 1970s and early 1980s. I always loved his artwork. He had a very unique style.
I know the last two weeks’ strips have all taken place over a few hours on the day Tess was shot, but unless Quiver’s going to turn him in (quickly), I’d really rather see what’s going on across town, at the hospital…
Riffin’ on a Cigar continues1-JAY: I sawr a film today, oh boy…
2-CUZ: Was it about how the English army won the war?
3-JAY: Nah. It was Dumb and Dumber. Even with that title, it wasn’t as dumb as this play. But now that you mention it – does this cigar make me look like Winston Churchill? How about if I throw in “We will fight them on the beaches. Never have so many owed so much to…”
CUZ: Keep it up and you’ll be quoting your next line from a wheelchair, Roosevelt.
JAY: Ummm, can we have “peace in our time?”
CUZ: Remember what General McAuliffe told the krauts at Bastogne? How about I give you a swift kick there? WHATSRNAME: I think I can guess…

Tracy’s “distracted right now” – Which brings us back to the question of how badly is Tess injured…

Looks like they did away with the comment section over at Alley Oop. I guess they didn’t like all of the negative ones about the writing & plots?

( Off-topic … and I apologize in advance for bringing it up here … but is it just me, or did GoComics shut down the comments on “Alley Oop?” )

Put some beadier eyes on Edison, and she looks a lot like MTV’s Daria character….

Good morning™, cool and collected girlfriend observers !
Edison getting involved would only intensify this family meeting. She is wise to remain invisible during ‘negotiations’.

I love how Shaky’s able to get smoke to come out of only one side of his cigar(ette).
Kool trick!!!

I’m confused. Why would just seeing Shaky break her parole? That would only make sense if he was a known criminal (before this current misadventure).

“But cousin, we’re related, and I’m visiting you. Won’t you even offer me a drink? Like, a milk shake ? "
“No.”
“Okay, then. Let’s just shake hands and put things behind us?”
“No. I’d rather shake you off.”
“Oh come on, cousin. For god’s shake! "

Good to know Quiver has seen Dicko twice, we haven’t seen him in almost a month. Possibly in ICU with a virus?

So Tracy is Quiver’s parole officer as well as his day job?
Sisyphos over 4 years ago
Shaky shakes. He smokes foul cigars. He seeks to impose on his parolee cousin. And he teases about Tess.
He’s a bad boy, and Tracy is going to give him a spanking! [That’s a metaphor.]
