Hey Roger, with all these replays of games, the fans aren’t going to forget how bad the refs were last season, better work on it while you have the time.
NBC cable is also replaying games of the past. In Chicago it’s the ‘05 Sox. I imagine other markets are similarly treated. It really is a pleasure to experience Hawk again, it’s just unfortunate the Big Hurt was already retired.
It’s not just sports. In pop music, I still cringe knowing that Neil Diamond will always sing “brang” and Peaches and Herb will always pronounce it “wisht.”
i love watching sports; i love watching the competition, the unbelieveable plays, the hilarious bloopers and i am a 70 yr old woman. i grew up watching sports with my dad and i have continued to this day. we all have different likes and that’s ok; just don’t bash us sportnuts who enjoy the game no matter what sport!
One of our employees used to tape the car races on Saturday afternoon so he could watch them that night. We always tried to find out the winner so we could blurt it out before he left.
A sports station should choose champion and play replays of old (and very old) games to create an entire season and even playoffs (you wouldn’t have to use playoff footage for playoff games, so teams that never won a playoff, still could this year). Then only the station execs know the outcome (though sports nuts may recognize some individual games). Also, scrub the game commentary of any clues to the year.
My significant other is SUPER upset that the games are not on. Me? Not so much. (But I may be freaking out a little when it comes to football season if things haven’t come ‘round by then.) Go Birds!!!
I’m enjoying watching some of the classic tennis matches that have been airing, among others. I never saw them and for the most part, don’t know who won, so even though the outcome was determined many years ago, I’m still getting into it.

Funny, I don’t miss sportsball one bit.
Has anyone told him the Olympics were postponed until next year?

For those who missed the action in the original games. Now they know what everyone was talking about!

I still get excited watching Elias shape for that goal in 1989. One day, he’ll get it.

You still get into it like it’s a live game, and sometimes you missed things before when you went to the frig for a beer.

I’m still looking for someone to bet with on these games. I pick first but I will give any odds you want.

They couldn’t hear you from home when the game was live, so what difference does it make?

I’ve been trying to find reruns of gladiator battles in the Colosseum in Rome, but I can’t find them.
