Decent fantasy play by Thorp. Had a middle reliever came in to game in the 6th, they would have received a Hold and Gonzo wouldn’t have earned a Save. The two inning Save may mean he’s not available unless the next game is two weeks from today.

Del Bader vs. Softball Moms: “Train kept a rollin’ all night long, train kept a rollin’ all night long…” Del Bader continues to plow through the competition, not only running everyone over but just demolishing them. The Moms nagging and whining were no match for Del, although they put up a better battle than just about any opponent has so far. The Cinderella story ends and Bader moves on to the Championship.

Del Bader 89 – Softball Moms 41

”Wildcat” Maris vs. Chet Ballard: This was a classic between two evenly matched teams. Neither is afraid to use the most devious, underhanded tricks to get what they want, and they pulled out all the stops. Maris entered the half up by 3, but Ballard came out in the second half doing what he does best. Stealing, and converting. Back and forth they went. Maris had a shot to win it in regulation but Ballard slapped away his attempt. Tied in overtime, Marris hit a runner with 15 seconds left to go up by two. But Ballard remained cool, and with the clock running out, yelled out, “This one’s for you, Charlie!” as he launched a three from the corner. Nothing but net! He stormed off the court with his fists pumping, running towards his stepson. Charlie looked up and said, “What? Sorry, I wasn’t watching, what happened? I was reading the latest Mopped Up Thorp."

Chet Ballard 78 – ”Wildcat” Maris 77 (OT)

Okay, this is it! The Championship Game in the Gil Thorp Villains/Annoyers Tournament! Voting is now open – Del Bader vs. Chet Ballard, two very deserving, devious, unlikeable finalists. Voting will remain open through tomorrow. Del is a huge favorite, but don’t count out Chet just yet!

P2: Is that Mayor McCheese giving him the nickname? He must he thinking overtime, given no sweat in P1 but P2 causes panic sweat.

P2.5: “Be sure to bring that ball to the next game so we can play! This isn’t a high budget major league operation.”

P4: “And when you get a couple more saves, he’ll start calling you The Great Gonzo. You might as well start putting the Muppet chickens in your locker now.”

P1 – I’ll bet Butt Muench isn’t very happy right now. He hit a grand slam which was the margin of victory. Dragon Ball Z kid simply had to protect a 4-run lead.

P2 – The Mayor sure gets nervous fast. He was dry in P1 and in between sentences he started sweating like a pig. And what’s with the tiny poker chip he gave Z?

P3 – If he wouldn’t have gotten interrupted, “Call…me…Al!”

I sure can’t wait for the day where it’s explained how The Mayor because so all powerful and influential so that anything he says is immediately adopted. Actually, I’m not holding my breath that this will ever be explained.
