I have misgendered cats more than once. I just don’t check that closely. For that matter, many I never touch. They don’t want affection, they DEMAND food.

I once saw a girl in a pet store that had just bought a pink Beta, thinking it was a girl, and I told her that it was male (with betas the males have much longer fins) and she was a little disappointed. Turned out to be for the best though, since she knew what companion to get for it, she had once accidentally bought 2 male betas and they killed each other so now she knows not to get another male beta.
