Could be a train!!

In this case, we can understand, Jef.

He can’t go out, but his computer can search the world.

On my job, the light at the end of the tunnel was cut off due to budget cuts!

But will life be the same once one gets out of the tunnel?

The light at the end of the tunnel is the headlamp of an oncoming train.

I haven’t seen that quote before. Does anyone know its source?

The skeptic wonders who turned out the lights and put us in this predicament…

The true pessimist says, you’ve turned around. That light is the end of the tunnel you originally entered and you are doomed to repeat the mistake time after time. ‘Those who ignore the lessons of history, are doomed to repeat the worst of it.’ 1918 vs 2020 a classic example.

Could be a blown fuze.

The positive realist says, “OK, I know I can still see.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: A pessimist sees the glass as half empty and an optimist sees it as half full – but a realist knows that either way, some one’s gonna have to wash the damn glass.

Isn’t the implication that, without the light, the realist would NOT know he’s in a tunnel? That doesn’t speak well for the realist’s analytical skills.

Gurdijieff wrote "You are in prison. If you wish to get out of prison, the first thing you must do is realize that you are in prison. If you think you are free, you can’t escape.” Perhaps that’s true of tunnels as well.

Nothing wrong with reusing a good quote.

Yet so much in terms of how people are living life is going on to observe and comment upon:

More people walking and biking and kindly giving each other needed amounts of personal space

Families discovering picnics, and finding they can visit with others from lawnchairs or swing seats on their front porches

Drive in theaters reemerging, and some stadiums and malls figuring out how to covert their parking lots to permit that

Parents finally realizing how hard teachers work

Kids out flying kits and balsa airplanes or playing with squirt guns that have good ranges

Kids and some adults actually observing the plants and animals around them, and discovering the night sky

Experimentation in how business is being done with increases in take-out and in retail curbside pick-up

Seniors figuring out how to teleconference with grandkids

The list could go on and on…

Might be a good idea to check that there actually is a tunnel and you’re not just “going into the light”.

Why? Is he in a coma? Paralyzed from the brain down?

Who thinks the light at the end of the tunnel is the shinkansen?

The pessimist says “There’s no light.” The optimist says “Soon there will be light.” The Scout turns on their flashlight.

The meliorist says if we keep moving we can reach that light.
