Danae: I've got another theory on why we still have snow in the spring... Kate: Oh, pray tell. Danae: It's a government conspiracy! Kate: Ah... but which government? Danae: Whoa... I didn't think about that! This could mean that... GASP... Snow in the spring is an act of terrorism!! Joe: Why do you do that, Kate? Kate: It gets her out of the room faster.

I’m with “sayhow…” – Love it, Wiley (and yeah, it snowed again today).
By the way, it’s exactly 9 months ‘til Christmas - so think about how much snow we’ll have by then!

So if you don’t shovel the walk … then the terrorists have won.

Judging by the comments, there’s been a lot of terrorist activity.
You gotta do what you gotta do to get Dannae out of the room.

Ah, the ever-practical Kate! Wrightwood had another 23” over the weekend. Altadena, just about 5” of rain. Hail a few weeks ago, but not real snow since 1949.
How about the blackened copper mesh to lay on the snowy walk? Any sunshine, it melts its way through. Oh, wait… How thick? Ah! Stake it on the edges!

If spring snow is terrorism, we had better keep a closer watch on the Canadian border.

We were supposed to have up to 8” this week but barely got 2”. And just four days earlier it was nearly 70 degrees.
Whatever happened to Victoria?

At least we still have snow as a natural resource, when Oil becomes irrelevant, we may emerge as a water-rich nation.

Oh you sorry sinners. Can only the enlightened see it is a sign of the end of our mortal world? Send $6.95 for a copy of my book,” How to get rich on Apocalypse”.

I’m surprised Danae doesn’t want to join a terrorist group! They would probably be frightened of her!

I can’t wait to see how Danae reacts to Mud Season!
dflak over 13 years ago
@pbarnrob that’s what fireplace ashes are for. Provide traction, absorbs sunlight and isn’t harmful the the sidewalk and the grass. Gets a little muddy at times, but that’s less damaging to floors and carpets than salt - it washes out easily enough.
Washes away in the spring, with no detriment to the environment.

There was an episode of Taxi where Reverend Jim took his Driver’s Test. He whispered “What does a yellow light mean.” the others whispered back “Slow down.” He replied “OK” and whispered it again slower. After a couple times one of the crew asked the director “How long are we going to do this?” and the director replied. “As long as the audience is laughing.”
That’s how long Wiley can stay on this subject. I’m one of the ones still laughing too. Great one Wiley!

I’ve always been of the opinion that there should be snow, and NO rain, between Halloween and Easter. The temperature should be below 30 degrees as well during that time, but not drop below 20 degrees. Then on Easter, the temperature climbs to 65, and never drops below that until Halloween again. Oh, and a maximum temperature of 75. All temperatures in Fahrenheit… In Celsius, it’s -1 to -6, and then 18 to 24.

Tom:
Also rain only between 9 PM and 5 AM. Nice sunny days with white puffy clouds. Thunder and lightning in pleasant moderation.
Maybe a short impressive T-Storm at 2:30 PM from time to time.
Just wait. I’m working on it. Shouldn’t be too hard.

Kerovan that’s what live studio audiences are for, so the actors & director can see what works. Then they redo & take out parts so what makes it to the screen is actually a “best of” from the actual performance. We may serve this function for some of the artists here. Boil it down far enough & you get audience participation performance.

Truth be said, Danae is reflecting my feelings about the snow. Here in Toronto, we had a snowstorm on Wednesday, and the high is below freezing today. Should be well above at this time of year.

I love it when Kate gets involved….
Her evil streak is very subtle and buried under lots of positivity, but she plays some rather wicked tricks on her sister sometimes. I have the strip on my cubicle wall where she feeds Danae some very interesting information on Isaac Newton for a last-minute science report (involving everyone floating around until Newton invented gravity and certain popular cookies).
BTW I agree - where is Victoria? (And for that matter, is Brenda really, really gone? I liked her too.)

We woke this morning to 5 inches of wet, sticky, snow. Even the trees and wires were white. The walks and driveway are already melted clear, and the trees are getting there. A few days ago, we went out to dinner without jackets.

Snow, what?!

Since the New Year, about 75+% of the snow has been on or just before the weekend. Another substantial amount has fallen on Wednesday, the other day for religious instruction.
If snow is an act of terrorism, I believe that the terrorists are radical atheists.

RadioTom – Make it snow between Thanksgiving and Shrove Tuesday and I’ll consider it. In the southern Plains, we often get a nice Indian Summer during November. Halloween is too early for snow, although I’ve seen it. Read Ray Bradbury’s “The October Country” and you won’t be in such a big hurry to turn fall into winter.

In much of the country, next week is spring break week for high school and college kids. Coincidentally, in much of the country the weather forecast calls for unseasonably low temperatures, clouds and a chance of snow. Coincidence? I think not… I think the operators of those southern resorts (Florida, Cancun, Hawaii, etc.) have weather-control technology and want to make sure that next year at this time the teens will be screaming at their parents “I want to go to for spring break!!”

Reminded me of lunchtime at Cape Canaveral; brief afternoon thunderstorm on the way back from the cafeteria, that sometimes (but not always) cooled off the 95-95 (degrees+percent) afternoon for a little bit.
Coming back into A/C soaked could be um, interesting, too.
That was sorta OK, but the mildew smell in some of the motels was kinda gross.
