We still don’t know if the toothbrushes are harmful or not. I personally would feel menaced by animated toothbrushes swirling around me and making shapes, but maybe they’ll end up being helpful. Maybe. Maybe not.
I’ve not been with this strip a long time. 2015, maybe? I came in at Jim and Sarah.
The biggest thing is, especially since the pig murders, this strip is definitely morphed into a horror story. Anymore and I suppose we’d be disappointed if something horrible didn’t happen.
But told in a manner not unlike Forbidden Planet. There, the enemies were “Monsters of the Id,” and were never seen.
We haven’t seen the “Eye.” We saw Jim, after he was possessed by the “Eye,” but we haven’t seen the “Eye.” We have been given the hint, though, when we see little black squiggles, like we saw back in Aynesworth’s lab, that means the “Eye” is now among them. But the "Eye appears to be with all of our crew these days.
Could it be that the swarm surrounding him is the portal they’re looking for, much as Ravenscroft was portalled away earlier?
Meanwhile, I’m continually impressed with the detail and work put into this. All those toothbrushes, depth of field focus effects, motion blur, shading in the many levels of line drawings, etc. Bravo!
Is there more than one entity at work here? One appeared to notice Wally on the tower, and appeared near him ( animated toothbrushes near him?) It followed him downstairs, and then was stopped when the door was sealed. This one is on their side of the seal. Is this one a different being that was dormant in the room until Duffy opened the door? Or is it the same single force animating different brushes inside the seal?
It would be interesting if Duffy died here. This is Endtown after all. And because of that maybe Duffy will WORSE than die here getting transformed into a corpse ‘puppet’ made to speak on behalf of the entity.

What I’d like to know is….what are those “toothbrushes” in reality (or at least in the reality that we know :/)?

By the by, is there any way to do that on an iPad?

I think I will be quite disappointed if these turn out to be malevolent monsters – rather than “mutated” beings, like 75% of our exploring party.
I’m really hoping that our crew can learn something from them!
And, while we’re at it, how’s Kirbee and her crew doing? (It would be good story telling to give us one day of them once in a while)
Most of all, we know how busy Wally is at the moment. But does he ever think of Kirbee? Again, I’d be disappointed if he didn’t…
