Wait, Homer was the second person to discover “speech”, the woman was first.

“I’ll never hear the end of this” sounds like why we have so many phrases with the word “Dog”! ‘It’s a dog-eat-dog world’, ‘Sick as a dog’, ‘Can’t teach an old dog new tricks’, ‘Dog tired’, ‘In the dog-house’, …there are so many more but I am getting ‘Dogeared’! (Grin!)

Thus, Duncan must be an animal spirit sent to guide Homer.

I spent my years as a teenage boy learning curves — and I’m not referring to conic sections.

Don’t worry, Duncan. It was going to happen, anyway. Because it always did.

Oh you think speech is bad…. wait till we get to writing…. and printing…. and the internet (Oh, dear God!)

If this were the real bible story, I might still have faith. Anyway, it’s much more plausible.

Always interesting, which means looking forward to more. Not many can say that.

Ya know, if I believed in this sort of thing, I’d pick Leonardo da Vinci as one of Bert/Duncan’s “mistakes.” The guy was just amazing. . .

So wait, the first speech was in English? What happened after that?

I Love when Wiley goes into Homer mode!

I think Homer looks like Jerry Garcia.

If people didn’t say so many stupid damn things, speech would be MORE of a gift and less of a curse……….

“Non Sequitur” is one of my three favorite current comic strips (“Pearls” and “Lio” being the other two), and I wish wish wish wish WISH Wiley would have an occasional jam or mashup of his characters that otherwise would never meet. (His anniversary tree merely whetted my appetite!) Bert, meet Danae. Homer, meet Cap’n Eddie.

When is Homer going back on vacation? I like this strip better when it’s funny.

Speech, the ability of the human race to not only look stupid, but to open our mouths and prove it.

Speech is just another technology we developed, like transportation and social media. It can be just as annoying, too.

There sure are a lot of pop-ups on that monitor.
