I was out for an early morning walk down my drive and saw a light twinkling across the street. Sometimes that means a jogger or bicycle but it didn’t move so I turned around and hustled back up the drive. Second lap down there, the light was still there but I saw another by my mailbox and another in the garden. Not a creepy person watching me but fireflies at 5 a.m! Neat!
Sigh…takes me back. I had forgotten about the steamy rain but that was only experienced on the road or concrete sidewalks. Don’t forget sleeping to noon and BLTs and fresh corn on the cob!
I grew up on the east coast, my kids grew up in northern California. I had the hardest time convincing them that there was such a thing as a warm summer rain: rain is always ocean-cold here and mostly in drizzles, it comes September at the very earliest through April if you’re lucky. Rain means winter and cold. Summer months? Dry as a bone.

Hot and dry or cool and rainy. There’s never a warm shower in the Pacific Northwest.

Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.
Those days of soda and pretzels and beer.

Better get in out of the rain before you get wet.

Ah yes, the smell of that steamy rain when it first hits the pavement in those huge drops…
