Well, when you raise the bar so high that only the rich, gifted or talented can participate you lose sight of the needs of the rest of us. Pooh on you if you do.
I wasnât a great math student in HS. When I went back to college maybe 15 years later to a Junior" or Community college, I had to Preparatory Math (0100), before I could take a College level course. This is now 30 years ago, not sure what it would be now. âŠI feel so old!
University of Kentucky circa 1969. There was a course labelled âFootball Physicsâ (by the students). A thousand+ freshmen and athletes were âtaughtâ in revolving shifts in a 250+ seat classroom /auditorium. The Professor â I kid you not â was called the FLY. His name F.L Yost. To pass this course you needed to have a zero grade point.
I taught freshman English at a Florida public university some years ago, and one of my students (who was on a wrestling scholarship) misspelled the pronoun âIâ in an assignment. He spelled it âeye.â The department head told me to try to give him a âDâ rather than an âFâ for the class.
Well, which do you like better: admission standards or income from additional students? If you like the money, youâre going to have to accept how they lower your standards.

As long as his folks are willing to pay the tuition [or the loans that will keep him in debt for the rest of his life.].

The sad part is that he will graduate without learning any of that stuff. (Walden canât stand another lawsuit for giving bad grades.)
