How about if he doesn’t delay YOUR execution, Shorty ?

Sorry… Personal Opinion… but if you give a person enough time to be able to escape – they will take advantage of it. If given this kid time to live… he will go work on a revolution where the people will rise up and dethrone the ruler. Nothing political… that is just how the world works.

Why not ask the king let him select his own way to die. When the King asks him he answers: “Old age.”

I see a sword but I don’t see any bottles of Moxie.

And instead of being burned at the stake, you’ll be fed to the moat monsters.

Stink? Not as badly as the dungeon you are about to be chained up in….

So he’s not delaying the execution until the kid is old enough to be executed but delaying the execution as an appreciation of his courage. Presumably, they don’t have a minimum age for executions.

Many of the death sentences passed at Court Martials in World War I where thankfully overturned. This was officially because the condemned man had previously shown great courage. The high number of death sentences passed in World War I came from the need for discipline but were often overturned as a reward for courage. A case of the stick and the carrot.

I think this is a flash-back to how the spook got put in the dungeon.

Kid, you only have to delay long enough to outlive the king. And the Fink has been around a LONG time, so you’ve got a shot.

He should use the sword, run the King through, and usurp the throne. That’s the way to become King.

Kind of a Hobson’s choice. You can have your execution now— or have it later.

The kid could simply kill the king with the sword and take the throne anyway.
