Why limit yourself? I have simply added  things to be judgmental about.

You can still do that, but you’ll have to tolerate the other stuff.

The fifth panel is probably the one that resounds with me. Great strip.

Mrs. Olsen has become every man/woman today. She has precisely described the every-day irritations that are growing into serious anger and growing depression for mask wearers. We see non-wearers and want to yell don’t you care about anyone else at them, while realizing it would just lead to a confrontation that would worsen the situation. Frustration abounds.

This is why beating this virus is likely going to be very difficult. Here in Canada we’ve developed the Covid Alert app. Basically this app does what humans do if someone is identified as Covid positive. It automatically warns people who have been in close contact with that person, so they can self-isolate and get tested. But this only works if a good majority of people download the app. Aside from all of the things that can go wrong with that scenario, some smart and educated people (at least I thought they were) are saying things like, I’ll wait to see how things go before downloading it… “wait and see???” is a killer for this type of initiative.

Trying to decide which body parts we abuse, literally, most. Thanks to shoes (style, shape, and poor fit) feet are atop the list, but hair is up there a close second, if only because some don’t have any. In third place I would say faces, but mostly due to makeup and over piercing. I was not considering piercings and tattoos as abuse until just now, but they appear all over the body, not just one part, so they apply uniformly, if at all.

All this judging is tiring. All this “way in the back of the brain” thinking that everyone is an enemy that can kill us with a breath is tiring. All of this trying to understand each other through a mask is tiring. Wearing a mask is “better than nothing”. Same thing they enforced on the public 100 years ago, masks, fresh air, wash hands. You think by now we’d be doing better (don’t blame any current politician. this is a world issue and humans have been battling these things over and over again). I"m done judging people for how they wear their mask. Most of the people around me are not shedding virus and the mask makes no difference. Oh I still wear mine, I keep my distance (always have) and I wash my hands but I’m done ruining my days by fretting about other people’s behavior when my fretting won’t change a thing.

The comment in panel 5 is right on target. So many people believe that when the number of new cases begins to decrease AS A RESULT OF MASKS AND DISTANCING that it’s over and that it’s alright to stop doing the things that brought about the decrease. That is so totally wrong and will be the cause of the inevitable (due to the brainlessness of the non-maskers) second wave of infections. We are so far from over this.

… and I’m judging the Karens who are judging people who actually understand the science that masks have no effect in stopping the spread of viral infections.
