When Dale Messick introduced Hank 0Hair in Brenda Starr she got a lot of flack for having a “lesbian” like chracter so she ended up giving her a spouse and a daughter. Today no one really bats an eyelash with our very obviously butch reporter crook.

Things have generally made sense now that Curtis & Staton are in charge, so I’m guessing that Sam’s wife heard the report over a police scanner and the MCS has been waiting for Sam’s arrival so they can go to the crime scene together.

I agree with Bill Thompson, they were waiting for Sam to get to work. As far as who’s there now my guess is some uniforms are there doing their part securing the crime scene.

Good point. Also, it’s odd that Sam’s wife would be worried about Sam just because it’s a Flaky Biscuits driver. Does she expect him to commit suicide because a driver has died? Or maybe it’s the driver today, and the Master’s Degree guys tomorrow? Sorry, guys; the strip is great, but we have to nit-pick once in awhile.

@everyone (grin)Just thought I would explain a few things to make today’s strip a bit clearer. Tomorrows will help, but I still think a bit of explanation is in order.First off, poor Earl is dead. He was found by a passing motorist early this morning, dead beside his truck. The back was open and it looks like whatever cargo the truck may have been carrying was stolen. The police were called and the emergency vehicles came. Earl was pronounced dead. Photos were taken of the crime scene, the person who found the body was questioned and let go. News reporters were told that a Flakey Biscuits driver was found murdered. His name is being withheld currently, until his relatives are notified. The officers on the scene have found something suspicious and have notified the MCS. Tracy and company are just now arriving at work, Dick is reading the paper to keep up on current events, something every smart detective should do. Lizz is having her morning fix of caffeine. They are waiting for Sam to arrive.Sam’s wife heard about the murder on the morning news over the radio, as part of the morning traffic report, Earls truck was on a highway leading into town, and police had blocked off a few lanes. Why is she worried about Sam? Well Sam has always been a fan of Flakey Biscuits. He used to watch the Flakey Biscuit Show as a child and sent in all of his Flakey Biscuit box tops and bag labels to get his membership as part of The Flakey Biscuit Crumbs. He is a card carrying member, holding a Yeast Masters Degree. The death of a Flakey Biscuits driver has hit him hard. Sort of like a Lone Ranger fan hearing that Silver had died.
