The dawn of the beginning of maturity. It may take a while, but he’ll get there and won’t she be surprised at the effect the realization will have on her!
That’s how life works, Calvin. Everything’s funny and you laugh at other people’s misfortunes until it happens to YOU! Hope you’re learning a valuable lesson!
The four drawings of Calvin in this strip – without panels – are similar to the four drawings of Susie in last Thursday’s strip which were also without panels. This shows the extent to which Susie has turned the tables on Calvin – but she underestimates Hobbes.
My husband is evil. He just asked what would happen if Susie’s doll came to life while with Calvin like Hobbes does. Good thing I love his evil mind! LOL!
I liked this arc at first but it’s gotten a little too heavy-handed in its messaging for my taste. That, plus initially i thought (or hoped) Calvin was just playing a silly and lighthearted game instead of being totally earnest about it. But now with the latter being the case it makes him look as much of a bully as Moe ever was, which, despite all of Calvin’s outlandish behavior, is very much out of character for him (after all, hasn’t he bemoaned on more than one occasion about how cruel humans can be?).
I have seen recent stories of politicians who have tried dirty tricks and when caught, tried to say they were just joking. Unfortunately, this seems to be a frequent response used mostly by males.
I wonder what is going through the heads of Calvin and Susie’s moms? Do they intervene? Do they stay out of it? Is there enough wine in the world to make this go away?
Too often these days, Calvin reminds me of a certain so-called President… I’d like to think that Calvin didn’t grow up to be so self-centered and ignorant.

This is not “karma” which involves retribution or reward in a future existence. It’s just plain ol’ “payback”.
