Even if you weren’t a regular in ’93 this story line was replayed a few years ago leading up to their wedding. If memory serves Arlo invites Mary Lou to join them tomorrow, no wait, they almost kiss tomorrow and then the dispatched Arlo appears.
I understand fathers being protective of daughters, but I never really “got” why mothers would be so protective of their sons – as a son of such a mother myself, it didn’t really make sense since keeping girls away was hardly a problem. My mother was a high school PE teacher so knew girls quite well, and she really didn’t want me to have anything to do with them then (although she started to ask me about my interest later on). My ex-wife was the same with our son when he was about 12 (“I do not want him meeting girls!” I remember her saying when we were going to an event where that was possible). The typical parent doesn’t want their child to be non-heterosexual, but they don’t want them to have straight interests either! I guess too many parents have issues with their children growing up, preferring they stay as children.

A mother senses a change! The first whiff of testosterone… carried on the wind.
Little does she know!

It had to happen some time Janis. At least a Dingo didn’t eat your baby.
