Thinking hard about it… most of Modern Communication seems to be narrowed down to a Middle Finger. I agree with the Wizard… there is a Art and Love to the old fashion system of Writing Letters.
When I’m gone, will they sort thru some 11,000 e-mails on my hard drive, or will they open that shoe-box in my hall closet to see what my most treasured letters were?
If you want an anachronism for today’s world, try the rotary dial telephone. I found a You-Tube video of two teenagers trying to figure out how to dial a phone number. I thought that the video was a hoot.
SO sweet. When a valuable person is so valuable, nothing he possesses will can ever be as valuable, don’t look anywhere, except maybe to the one who’s sadly dressed in black truly comprehending the value of that person. There’s no hidden gem in the attic, just what is left in our hearts.
I’m old enough and poor enough to remember that when we did use the phone we talked for a short time due to the high rates. But, for a really long explanation we used the letter to make contact with people. I so remember looking forward to getting a letter from away. But, now, I usually just get that pesky bill and all the junk mail, too.
E-mail was invented in the mid 1970’s FedEx and UPS also started in the mid 70’s. Governmental mail service has been on a decline ever since it started. That’s why we have E-Mail, UPS and FedEx. The last 5 presidents have cut spending on the postal service. To spend billions on the declining Gov mail service is stupid. But then again governments left and Right spend billions on stupid old and obsolete programs. If you get rid of the postal service how will I get my junk mail?
In restaurants, people will text each other across the table. They will exchange selfies so the insignificant other can gaze into pictures of their eyes. They will even be able to hear the distant voice through earbuds. A brave new world!

Uh, no that’s how we did it in the 20th Century. This one is dominated by Text Messages and so called Social Media platforms. Why do you think that the Postal System has been struggling for the last two Decades just to break even?
Delete, delete delete! I didn’t want my children to know my most inner thoughts and secrets….so I ripped up three diary books…..gone gone gone….all gone….thank .god!
Jeez, when I read this in the paper, I couldn’t figure out that last panel! I thought he turned himself into the mailbox or something. Now I see he’s just hugging it.

Folks don’t communicate by letters in the 21st Century.
They send hateful and hurtful snippets over Facebook, Twitter, TicTok, Instagram and others under the cover of anonymity.
