As I live by myself, I think there has been a time or few I’ve forgotten to turn on the water-filled electric kettle for my herbal tea and frozen juice concentrate.
Years ago I worked in an office that had a community coffee pot and the rule was that whoever got in first would make it in the morning and whoever used the last cup during the day would make the next pot regardless of rank or gender. We did notice, however, that one manager had a habit of just standing nearby and chatting with his cup in hand whenever the pot was empty. One day, he was holding a meeting with several visiting dignitaries and the pot was empty. He looked around frantically and then bit the bullet and started to fill the pot. When he finished, he turned around to see a dozen office mates standing around with their cups just watching. No one said a word, but after that he did start doing his share.
My roommate PJ (RIP) & I each had our own coffee pots, because I go for dark roast hafcaf, on the strong side, & he liked plain old (wimpy) regular-strength regular. So we had no one to blame but ourselves if we ran out!

In the ten years we have been married, the only times my wife has made the coffee has been when my back went out and I couldn’t get out of bed.

In my case, the 2nd part is true, but the 1st part is mostly not true.
