Both hedges and walls need care, but, somehow, a hedge is friendlier. (I think the poet Robert Frost thought that; his poem "Mending wall’ had a narrator who really didn’t want the fix the wall between fences…)
Efficiency at its most blatant. Never have to trim the hedge again, and the privacy of the house is still maintained. And they say animals are dumb : D
I have neighbors from hell…..This year I stacked 6 cord of wood and one 8 foot section of fencing to give us some privacy. Next year I plan on putting up more sections of fence…and maybe order 8 cord of wood!:-)
I definitely had this problem the first time I trimmed a row of holly hedge. It’s like, if you give a mouse a cookie. As the things you trim by change up close, it’s tougher to get yourself to step away for perspective. I’m sure there’s a trick to it but the following year, I made a point to step away and look back. That helped.
I think this is the same challenge for nail biters. You get a hangnail or a snag, then try to even it…suddenly, the nail is gone.

I’ve been cutting my own hair since April. Not sure why this brings that to mind.

Yeah, I’d probably have the same problem if I had a hedge to trim, knowing my luck.

Like trimming sideburns or mustaches. Although with people wearing masks, no one notices now.

Looks like Horace quit trying to hedge his bets, and went with a sure thing.

Don’t fence me in.

But the birds and spiders can’t nest in your wall, unless you plant ivy in front of it. And that will take a long time. :-(

Cut down all of the trees and name the streets after them…
