it’s reminding me of C&H “Scientific Progress goes ‘Boink!’” where Calvin’s duplicates explain to Susie, Miss Wormwood, the principal, and Calvin’s parents they’re Calvin’s duplicates, not Calvin himself
There was a Sunday strip which established that Marigold has to use a “lying spell” in order to be able to lie and that this makes her a compulsive liar until the spell wears off. This inability to lie (without the spell) is shown again in today’s strip. First Marigold says that she isn’t Phoebe and then corrects herself by saying that today she is Phoebe.
Her entire strip reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes. (And that’s a compliment). Bill Waterson himself once said that he thinks a strip like his, written by, and featuring a girl would be amazing. And it makes sense; we have the kid and the fantastic creature.
just had a thought, if this comic ever became an animated series or an animated movie (or if it became any other form of media other then print) it would make it main stream. tons of people who don’t read comics would get in to it, crating fan art and theories and having shipping wars , taking it from obscure to all over the place since so many people don’t read comics and would be seeing it for the 1st time. and whatever becomes of that, we would be the fans who were in to it before it was cool. I would feel like I had insider information on upcoming plots if that happened. Heck I been following this since it was concepts on Deviant Art. and some of you have been her wince Ozy and Millie imagine life after 1,000,000,000s of people who don’t read comics say “What’s this new cool thing I never heard of? Well now that every one is calling it cool I like it too” The world is full of things that are in print, that no one knows about until after they get adapted to an other media but once they are adapted they blow up.

It’s nice to do one of these that never made it to GoComics. I’m free of the perceived obligation to use their broken search function.

Dakota’s hair is less voluminous—looks good, even so.

Marigold’s final comment is so Phoebe!

“Idiosyncrasy” seems to demand another syllable. How about “idosyncrosity”?

If Phoebe were a boy, Marigold would get beaten up once or twice. Or at least stuffed into the trash barrel like Max.

Who will be the first to figure out that “Phoebe” is really Marigold. I am guessing either Dakota or Max.

You know, I’m not sure too many people are really going to notice the different that much, now that I’m thinking about it…

Marigold should have taken this chance to ride on her own body.

I doubt the real Phoebe knows what “idiosyncrasy” means. :P
