Has anyone noticed the absence of wall clocks? They used to be everywhere, now I seldom see one! Even the ones in front of the banks which tell the time and temp are long gone! (My house has 2 of them BTW!)
Yes sir still carry a watch and pen ! I love it when someone asks me why do I carry a watch and pen as if itās a sin . Then several minutes later they want to borrow the pen and ask what time it is ;-)
32 years in the Army Signal Corps, wearing a watch is second nature. My definition of time appreciation, however, has changed. Now itās appreciating the time that I have left.
So Opal no wrist watch. Wonder if Opal hearing is not working.Place I used to work at he could not wear a wrist watch, the chemistry of his body killed a windup to battery watch. He just knew on time.
Thereās something about wearing a wristwatch that seems natural to me. I have almost every form of time keeping device and yet without my watch I feel like somethingās missing.
It appears to me that of all the comments thus far posted, only Mr. Medlock (above) seems to have gauged the intended point of this segment. āPicklesā is not a cartoon strip noted for its black characters, which Opal makes clear by her inadvertent tone deafness. Despite the woman being close to Opal in age and is well-dressed (not to mention that they are both in line to pay for their groceries), Opal assumes that, because the woman is black, she is a beggar. Kudos to the artist for his gentle yet poignant insight.

This is why I still wear a wristwatch. Itās much easier to look at that then trying to dig out the phone.
