I was born in Ohio in January. I have seen a picture of me outside the house at 3 days old, in the snow. It looks like I was screaming, but I have been told I was asleep.
Gosh this brings back sentimental nostalgic memories of being a first time dad with the first snowfall. Brings tears to my eyes. Only thing is missing, a camera for taking the first picture of baby in the snow. didn’t they have cameras back then?
Lynn’s Comments: The first snowfall each year in Lynn Lake, Manitoba came with very low temperatures. I had never in my life experienced such cold. We bundled ourselves up in parkas, snow pants, hats and scarves, and the way we (friends and family) recognized each other was by the clothes we wore, the way we walked and where we were going!
My husband’s family lives in South Carolina. When his niece was about 5 there was a heavy snowfall there. My father-in-law asked her what she thought about the snow. Her answer: “It’s cold…it’s wet…and it’s yucky!”
I am the oldest of 4, 3 brothers and a sister. She’s the youngest. Every one of us, in my opinion, were treated differently and they seemed to get away with a lot more than I did. Probably because of the age differences since there is a 12 year span between first and last.
I remember a story from Reader’s Digest where the family had just moved and the son went out in the snow bundled up to look for new friends. He came back shortly and asked if he could go to his new friend’s house. Mom said yes, but he came back in less than 10 minutes and with disgust declared “It was a girl!”

Lynn ripped this off from “A Christmas Story” where Randy is bundled up so much that he can’t lower his arms and when he falls, he can’t get up.

As if. Everyone knows in Toronto the first snowfall happens in, like, August or something.

Reminds me of our first born, dad holding our son inside the house to show him the first snow, he did not know it.

My mother tells me that the first time she took me out in the snow, I screamed bloody murder.
