I once needed to visit the loo in my local pub, so I left a note on my pint that said “I have spit in this.” When I got back I found a note below it that read “So have I.”
The cake was pleading for its life as clearly as it could, but Horace pretended not to understand. It’s a shame, because literate baked goods are pretty uncommon, and ought to be encouraged.
Behold the wild Houyhnhnm. Without the ætheric-spider essence brain-meld Horace is as bad as we are. No Houyhnhnm as Gulliver met would ever think of doing this. Observe and learn. One wonders what the human Lemuel Gulliver would have thought of the wild child that is Horace?
Well, in Looking-Glass World you’d do just the opposite to get anywhere (and yes, I know the articulate cake and flagon of unknown contents were in the previous book). Maybe that’s where Ecaroh found himself. And his cake, and had it after he ate it.
