We had a dog that was good natured but he would eat pyracantha berries in the winter and turn into one very mean dog. We had to remove the bushes. I think the berries may have fermented to alcohol.
Back in the early 1960s, (before all the don’t feed the dog… warnings) my parents had a boxer dog who LOVED beer. While they were stationed at an Air Force base, the officers had a picnic, and of course Sam begged for beer from everyone. My dad said the dog got drunk, and they found him snoring under a picnic table. He had to carry a drunk, 80lbs boxer dog home. lol Sam lived to be almost 13.5 years old. He was a great dog.
One night as I was finishing my swing shift security job in downtown Portland, I found a field supervisor waiting for me. He had a “special” for me. They had just painted the exterior of a movie theater at a mall that my company had the contract for. The contractor was worried about the scaffolding. So I spent all night in a parking lot watching paint dry and getting paid overtime to do it. The overtime didn’t help.
Dunno about dogs but I had a cat once that was a very mellow drunk – he absolutely loved dry stout beer and would demand about an ounce any time I opened one. I’d let him drink his share off the top of the mug and while he napped in the corner I’d finish the rest.

“Watchin’ the paint dry on that bus bench.”
“Ahm… the bench with a man sitting on it… with a $700 business suit on?”
(Grinning widely) “Yep.”

There actually is a beer for dogs. It’s non-alcoholic, so safe for the beasties.

I would no more give alcohol to a pet than to a child, but I never considered any of those might become angry drunks if I did! Now my ex…

At my Dad’s bar an old couple would buy their chihuahua a short beer every day for lunch. It was the only laid back chihuahua I ever met.
