Snug Harbor is, presumably, set on the continent’s east coast. And sadly, there’s almost nowhere in the eastern U.S. into which children might walk where they could become truly “lost.”
Where I live, there’s a 7,000 acre park that borders the city, and I’ve walked to what is the most “remote” place within its boundaries. And even then, I was still never more than a quarter-mile from the nearest man-made feature.
Whats Spud gonna do when he wakes up in the middle of the night with Amelia contentedly sleeping with her head on his chest and her arm draped over him?

You gotta love that Amelia breaks so many rules (and war crimes when she grows up) yet will never curse

And you can be sure Wallace has done it before, so at least you’re with an expert.

Yes, after all this is Wallace the Brave, not Ernest Hemingway – where they would be lost, starving, in the cold … and it started to rain.
