The years bring character as well as the patina of age. The beauty is in the dents, rust , and wrinkles. The signs of battles fought bravely, if not always won. Although… I imagine Grandma would trade it all for electronic fuel injection.
This hits close to home. In my defence my body runs like a low milage Yugo, that was a rental, before it was stolen and used in a robbery, ending in a high speed chase and crash and small fire.
Brings back to mind my late paternal grandmother. She couldn’t drive and had been nothing other than a housewife for a l-o-o-o-ng time. When her husband (my grandfather) died, she tried to stay in their house — a low scale duplex that had a big staircase from the main level to the floor that her bedroom and the bathroom were on. A hard trip for an old lady. Eventually, she developed mental confusion and was unable to function alone. We had to bring her to a local home for the aged. I’ve been past her old house a couple of times since then, and there’s now a family with young children living there. It’s better suited to them.

Silly me. My first thought was a carbonated beverage.

I love it when comic strip kids talk in erudite words which would elude most adults.

Add in that my suspension is probably shot from too many years carrying heavy loads

A little TLC can work wonders, even in later (vehicular or human) life.

Agnes, fetch a box of kosher salt to sprinkle on Grandma; there’s a good girl!

There is a time and place for insight, Agnes. That wasn’t it.

Painful. Funny, but painful.

Hopefully Agnes will have a grandchild as unthinking or deliberately cruel as herself.

Sounds like it’s just about time for Agnes to find another $10,000 guitar in a dumpster

An old broken down truck, is that all there is to her life? Sad…

Poor Grandma. She is so wonderful. Remember, Agnes would be in foster care if not for her.
Grandmothers are, to so many of us, our guardian angels on earth. I have nothing but warm and grateful memories of both of mine.

At least Grandma’s truck is of a vintage when you could work on them without fancy computers and a metal lid over most of the engine.

Grandma appears to have been too focused on the problems with the truck to catch what Agnes said. Count your blessings, Agnes.
