A real cat would have just pushed the mouse off from the desk, making it move enough to change the paging or do something truly evil to your work. I know. I have a cat.
I walked away from my computer and came back to find: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA00000000000000 I knew our kitten, Penny had been on the keys again. Also replaced my mouse because same kitty bit through the wires, got a new wireless mouse, which she bats off the table.
Whenever my daughter’s cat comes begging for cuddles, I pick her up and move WAY back from my desk. with the combination of my cuddles, her age (17) and that my desk is tiny AND covered with junk (have just enough space to work – as long as I don’t have to take notes), she is disinclined to jump on it. FYI – she does truly sit up and beg for cuddles. She will come and sit at your feet, sit back on her haunches and lift her shoulders up so you can grab her more easily under her arms.
My cat likes to knock the mouse off the desk and bat it around. Problem is that it’s one of the Dell mice with the magnetic top… I’ve had to go chase pieces more than once.

A cat always has to make sure you are paying attention when it ignores you.

You’d chastise a small green-eyed tiger? They remember these things!

Naw, that’s the “play with me, not the computer!” move.
Ours likes to lay on the newspaper or magazine you are trying to read.

He may need to get a corded mouse. Those are harder to swallow.

Andrew has been underused lately. Good to see him get ‘his own panel’.

That’s an excellent cat. Cats are very hard to get right.

Now, what kind of cat would he be if he didn’t go after a mouse when he saw one?

I just thought of something kind of exciting. We are only two years and some odd days from Rita’s announced intention to retire at the end of 2022!
