The US Postal service is warning customers to expect potential delays in package shipments leading up to Christmas.
This week marks the postal service’s busiest week. On its website, USPS posted an alert that said it’s experiencing unprecedented package increases and limited employee availability due to the impacts of COVID-19.
On the bright side, I’m looking forward to experiencing the 12 days of Christmas for the first time.
♫ On the first day of Christmas COVID gave to me a delivery by the USPS. On the second day of Christmas COVID gave to me another delivery by the USPS…♫
Life goes on, but can sometimes take unexpected turns. A hundred years ago, when architects designed our home with a deeply recessed, outward opening door, they could not have foreseen packages on the porch. That final step makes such a convenient target, but placing said packages often blocks said door.
I wonder how long an incipient problem usually has to build before we notice it. Even on a small scale, when I clean out the refrigerator I often am surprised (I know: why?) at how far gone a lot of stuff in it was. If I were smart I would at least pull out the vegetable drawers every week and clean those puppies out. Liquid cucumbers are no fun.
I suppose we are like that for most things. They sneak up on us.
When I was in my front yard, the UPS truck (could have been FedEx) stopped with a package for me. When I met him at the truck to take the package, he said no, he had to walk the package all the way up my walkway to my front door and leave it in front of the door. So, I followed behind him and took the package into my house. Weird.
I had a package delivered yesterday, announced by my dog (she just goes and watches them, no sound) and I went out to get it. It actually belonged to a neighbor, so he was coming towards me, no mask, to retrieve the package. I hadn’t put on a mask, assuming he was already gone. I tried to back up, asked him to stop approaching, finally put my collar over my face/nose, he caught on, apologized, and made room for me to get out of the way. I was almost cornered without either of us in masks. Then a second delivery person showed up and thanked me for having the door opened, since he was very cold and some heat came out. We all said something nice and went on with our day. The second person brought my actual package, which almost went to my neighbor. Why are delivery people coming to the door during a pandemic without a mask?
I wonder what they think will happen to that box Arlo takes to the curb. No garbage people would take it here; they only take what is in the garbage cans.
I’m pretty sure this strip has nothing to do with the door being blocked but that Arlo just took a box the same size to the trash while another one takes its place.

People in Africa though thankful, wonder why the crazy white people in the USA throw away perfectly good clothes.

That guy looks to old to be a UPS driver. They are usually 20 something year old kids around here.

I’ve accepted the fact that everything I buy will end up in a landfill. I’m just paying to rent it until it breaks.
