the older cars had character, you could identify each model, unlike today when they look so similar. But damn they were massive, like driving a bloody tank
The last thirty years or so have been driven by gas mileage requirements in part. The newer cars are more aerodynamic to reduce drag and they have improved drive trains that are more fuel efficient. I’m not so sure I would want or could afford one of the big old landboats that got around 8 MPG.
As far as styling goes, the last “good” year, styling-wise for both Chevrolet AND Ford was 1964, the 1965 Chevrolet depicted on the front of Baldo’s magazine was the start of the long slide into artistic mediocrity.
You are wise beyond your years Grasshopper. Now we have restomods with the classic bodies, but the great engines, transmissions, brakes and suspension of the newer models. It’s the best of both worlds.

“So we’ll appreciate the OLD models more!”
Yeah — like the Edsel!
(Well, the Edsel was a “classic” — a classic flop, that is!)

Because, if they looked exactly alike for 10 years in a row, Sales would Drop like a rock.
