Well, Dot, while we’re picking on people, let’s talk about your reckless, incompetent driving and how it’s endangering yourself and other drivers.
Then let’s talk about how they should take your keys away until you take a safe driving course. They shouldn’t wait until you kill yourself or someone else.
Besides which, the harder you push your son to Read A Book, the less likely he is to do so…Apple didn’t fall far from the tree in the stubborness orchard; refusing to see you are a bad driver, who should NEVER be allowed behind the steering wheel of ANY vehicle, ammi rite?
That’s one of those Elitist attitudes that so many people resent Dot.
While it is true that being “Well Read” is a great way for most to expand their knowledge and awareness bases, there are those of us with Learning Disabilities that prevent us from reading and digesting large volumes of material. There are other ways of being Smart. Experience is one as well as being blessed with enough Common Sense to figure things out for yourself.
In the first place, this is what moms do. And no, they’re not gonna change.
In the second place, Mom may genuinely want to discuss the book and is inquiring whether or not Joe has read it, as that’s going to affect the discussion. If she were to just start telling Joe about the book, and he’s already read it, it would sound condescending.
she’s the kind of person a reddit comment thread would tear apart but she’d edit her post over and over trying to justify her crappy opinions against them.
This is the first time they have mentioned anything about “Black”. Usually Marci tells something about Black history every day in February . Not this year.
One of the best nonfiction books I ever read was “Life is so Good” by George Dawson, the autobiography of a 90+ year old man, the son of a freed slave who didn’t learn to read or write until he was a great great grandfather.

We all can’t read all books. She should present him with a copy instead of her usual bullying.
