Even by cat logic, that’s pretty lame.

I’m 100% in agreement with Chesney on this one! Stoopid snow! I’m tired of it. It’s too cold for road salt to work so some streets are still covered with packed down snow. I’m tired of tromping through snow to get to my car and back in the house again. I’m tired of it snowing every time we start getting a little warmer. Stoopid snow needs to go away!

    Today is:

    President’s Day

National Gumdrop Day. I have some gumdrops – I’ll have to eat a couple today.

National Wisconsin Day. Finally, my state is recognized! It is a great state, but too cold these days. Bring on SPRING!!!!

Singles Awareness Day. Yes, I’m aware that I’m single. Nobody to give me Valentines cards and candy and flowers yesterday. But big deal – I LIKE being single! I control the TV remote. I don’t have anybody asking me, “What are you watching that show for?” I can buy what I want without anybody asking me why I think I need to buy that. I don’t come home to an empty house because I have cats who greet me the second I walk in the door. I don’t even mind the fact that they’re greeting me with “Feed me!” rather than just a “I’m happy you’re home.” After they eat their treat, they’re ready to welcome me home. Married life is right for some people, but it just isn’t what I want.

This is definitely one of my cats. I have one strictly indoor, but the other came as a adult stray and WILL NOT stay in the basement (other cat and husband have limited me to one indoor cat). In bad weather I get my cardio in because it’s out the basement door, then in. Then out the back door, then back in. Then out the basement door again, because, hey, it’s warmed up/stopped raining/warmer now, right? Finally after 5 or 6 attempts she will either curl up in her heated basement bed or in her heated cat house outside. And why, you may ask, do I worry about her if she has a heated cat house outside? Because she will stand at the basement door in rain waiting for me to let her in the basement. But she is sweet and adorable and I love her.

Reminds me of our first dog, a Cocker/Poodle mix young puppy. She wanted to go out & saw it raining. So she went to the back door…& of course it was raining there as well..& then back to the front door.

When I was a wee child, many years ago…I stood on one side of the street and watched in amazement as it rained on the other side! Apparently that was the frontal line…..

It does that in Hawaii. The first time I saw it, I was stunned.

Because Brad had his second shot last week and I get my second one on the 23rd, I decided we could get the heck out of Dodge for a few days two weeks later. Yes, we’ll still have to wear masks and follow the social distancing rules, but I won’t be as paranoid about being around other people. We still won’t go out to eat. The hotel has a mini kitchen and we can do take out.So, Park City here we come!

All the cats who have ever brightened my doors have this same view of the universe, its different from the other door.

I did have a cat who balked at going out the front door for a walk, when it was raining. She did go to the back door and check that it was raining there, too, before deciding we should go out anyway. To be fair, with sprinkler systems, it did make sense from her point of view.

There’s a novel by Heinlein called THE DOOR INTO SUMMER. The main character has a cat who would check all the doors, insisting that one of them must lead into the nice weather.

Snow is like a house guest. It’s okay at first, but it inevitably wears out it’s welcome. The sooner Spring comes, the better. On another note, saw four Juncos, three varied thrushes, and a wren while out walking today.

We had snow most of the day….first, 2 hours of sleet and ice…then snow flakes the size of quarters, it was beautiful. I unrolled an old piece of carpet and put it on the ramp for Lady Bird to go down to the second ramp which I shoveled free of snow down to the mud hog carpet nailed to that ramp. She did pretty good until the snow was about 6" on the lower ramp. She ate a lot of snow getting up it. Late afternoon I shoveled it again and hopefully it will not snow anymore tonight; therefore being passable in the morning. But it will go down to 2 or 3 degrees tonight and have wind chills of about -8 degrees. So far my wood stove is keeping the house pretty warm. My neighbor Rex went to the feed store, for hay and I asked him to get me chicken scratch to put out for the black birds ( Red Winged, Starlings, Brown headed Cow Birds and Grackles.) They weren’t much interested in sunflower seeds but loved that scratch feed that had a lot of cracked corn in it. Also I had dozens of Robins coming to my heated bird bath to drink water. Some of the Starlings tried the water, then waded in (I guess to warm their feet) and one even took a bath. The birds entertained me all day. I put feed out every hour because there were so many birds eating and eating.
