Hmm, gotta love Chuck’s spirit but he still has a long way to go before he can match guys like Lou Piniella and Lloyd McClendon for classic meltdowns. Watching Piniella manage the Rays I was truly amazed that the guy did have the big one right there in the Trop fighting with the umps as the then Devil Rays were always in a battle for the basement with the Orioles in the early 2000’s. McClendon was the manager who stole first base as skipper of the 2001 Pirates as he lost it over what he thought were a plethora of calls against his rather bad 62-100 team. Honorable mention to Bobby Valentine for wearing a disguise to sneak back into the dug out after getting run by the umps.
Besides playing catcher, I, too, played outfield. While I never thought of raising sheep, the thought of planting vegetables along the wall was most appealing.
You get a lot of sheep in that field of whatever state the Peanuts crew lives. Wow, I just realized for the very first time in my life of reading Peanuts strips for decades that I have no idea where these kids live in the US. Is it Springfield?

That’s what happened to Joseph Jackson and other Chicago White Sox players in 1919-1921… they tried get a little extra money.

If Charlie kicked the football as good as he kicks pastoral canes…

All she needs is a good sheepdog. Maybe Snoopy could help.

Charlie Brown doesn’t want any crooks on his team.

So do you think Charlie Brown, that she won’t pull the wool over your eyes?
sallyseckman over 3 years ago
Charlie Brown being able to be this assertive against Lucy it’s no wonder he keeps being manager despite the long losing streak.

Why did Charlie Brown kick the sheep shephard staff in panel #3?

That made Lucy look sheepish!

It’s clear that Chuck is having none of this.

Extra money? So business at the psychiatrist stand has been slow?

Sheep would do an excellent job of keeping the outfield grass cropped down.

Do what many modern players do Lucy. Charge people for your autograph.
There’s a despicable practice sports leagues should ban.

They especially hate you making money while you’re playing; it’s not moonlighting if you’re doing your regular job at the same time.

Charlie needs to get that tough with her all the time, like when she does that “I’ll hold the football and you kick it” BS

If Lucy could catch a fly ball every once in a while, he might let her tend to a few sheep in the outfield.

What have you got to lose? Let her keep the staff – the glove isn’t doing her any good!

CB can kick a shephard’s crook, but he can’t kick a football?
And, if in English we pronounce the “ph” combination as “F,” why isn’t it “she-fard?”
knight1192a over 3 years ago
No, Lucy. Team owners hate to see players LIE about why their not bothering to even try.

Now if he could kick the football like that, it would be an amazing thing to see.
