During the merciless killing of the innocent tune, Johann had a sudden epiphany: the top string on the instrument Helga was defiling was the perfect length for a garrote.
Her fam’ly may have overfed ‘er/ and she may not LOOK much like a “shredder”/but, defying the gods/ she’ll dazzle the clods/ by playing a cool “double-header” !
Once she successfully mangles the tune on the mandolin, she’s going to take it outside and pluck it out on the big boy laying on the table, for all to hear.
Madeline on the mandolin never quite mastered Stairway to Heaven.
She lacked the finesse and manual dexterity but possessed a great deal of enthusiasm and tenacity, so Maestro Peter had her switch from the lute to the flute.
“If you’re going to get serious about the mandolin, you need to realize that you’ll spend half your time tuning, and the other half being out of tune.”
