I wondered whether Arlo was talking about the “thump” Luddy made on the table.
It always seems startling when something that looks or acts so ethereal interacts with reality in a corporal way…
I used to sit right next to the tiny stage at the ballet performances of a very small company…
The surprisingly loud thump of even the most graceful ballerina’s foot on a wooden stage is a magnified version of a “weightless” cat’s landing on a high table.
Cats really do control gravity. My eight pound grey and white cat increases his weight by a factor of five whenever he gets on my chest. And how else do you explain how a three pound kitten can sound like a herd of elephants when she runs down the hall? And it is a carpeted hall, by the way.
I’ve said it before and i will say it again: cats have a gravity control. They can “take” (discharge, reduce) gravity at will when awake and simply need to “give” (charge, increase) when sleeping. This explains why a normal sized cat is impossible to shift when it lies at the foot end of the bed. The cat is then taking in gravity so that it can discharge gravity when awake.
One of my boys likes to sleep on the top of the cat tree which sits next to my computer desk. It’s probably 5’ above the table top. He just seems to fly up there somehow. When he decides it’s time to get down he flies out of his nest and lands with a thud in front of me. He weighs 16 pounds so it’s pretty loud. Good thing his brother doesn’t do that as he’s 20 lbs.

They do make it look like they might float just a little.

Anybody witnessing my cat tear around the house would swear that cats invented Parkour.

My wife tells me I’m still pretty spry for an old guy , then she gets up and gets me the tylenol.

My ex-fil used to say, “My hind left foot.”

@sappha58 I think it’s a southern expression. People in northern climes seem to be “less polite” in their reactions.

Of course we(cat owners) are fully aware of the fact that cats can walk thru walls, so a bit of levitation should be easy to understand

As time goes by, gravity increases.

One of my favorite Breaking Cat News lines: “Soar like an eagle, land like a rock!”

I dunno… sometimes I’d swear my cat levitated onto some places.

Yep and cats also know how to increase their gravity…like when they climb on you to get you up to feed them in the morning

I can never hear my 17 year old calico jump up on the counter. But I always hear that 14 lbs hit the floor when she jumps down!
