I was at the dentist one time and the screams of hell were issuing from down the hall!!! I inquired what the heck? 9 year old girl getting her teeth cleaned!! Hell, when I was 8 I had fillings done with nothing. I hated needles and he wouldn’t give me gas. So he said if I squirmed I had to get the needle, I never squirmed. Still don’t. But for caps, I definitely get a couple of shots.

Sparky tried to change with the times. He introduced Franklin, a black character and Peppermint Patty who is not your typical girly-girl. Of example, she’s the only girl in the strip (as best I can recall) that wears shorts instead of a skirt.

So wanting to get her ears pierced (especially under peer pressure from other girls) isn’t in character for her, but in comics, the rule of funny prevails.

If only Lucy could move like that when she plays baseball!

Awww. Lucy acts tough and crabby, but inside, she’s just a scared little girl.

This is why some places have two people at a time to do the job. Getting them done both at once, prevents a one ear only piercing job.

It’s nice to see Lucy show some emotional range ;)

When Peppermint Patty next sees Lucy I expect the first words out of her mouth will be “You chose a fine time to leave me Lucille..”

This was totally predictable. There is a strip where CB is talking to Lucy about getting a shot. Cb says “ You aren’t afraid of a little pain, are you?” Lucy says “ Of course I am! pain HURTS!!”

After Lucy deserted Peppermint Patty at the doctor’s office, Patty could have said, “You’ve picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille.”
