would a “better way” be studying for it?

Kinda pathetic

There was a piece on the telly tonight before supper about “OWL” students: “Older Wiser Learners”. I was one of those decades ago when I decided to retread as a programmer, so one of the comments struck me very hard. She (and I) didn’t go out partying, didn’t date, didn’t hang out and shoot bulls (much, long), but instead put in all those “people learning to be adult” hours actually studying the material, because we wanted to know this stuff! Unsurprisingly, she said she pulled perfect grades. I found that a little harder and only got MOSTLY 4.0 grades.

The best way for Paige to prepare for finals is to do it A LONG TIME AGO.

PS: If you really  want to learn a subject, tutor a few people. It’s amazing how much you only thought  you knew… when you have people asking questions from all sorts of directions.

I use to have a fake cough for these situations. It sounded so real it left my throat soar and the minor coughing associated with the real thing.

Paige’s emphasis on emphasizing key words in her statement of doom clearly shows her emphasis is emphatically wrong for test preparation.

Is Paige going to major in the Theatrical Arts?

If it’s for speech class I think that learning to speak in bold is preparing for it. Unless she’s supposed to be speaking in italic.

I would hope Paige learned from Peter’s failed schemes.

That’s how voice-over actors do it. Give multiple readings, and let the director choose which inflection and emphasis works best.

Finals were always my favorite part. It was the classroom time that drove me nuts.

There is. She could be videoing herself and comparing each takes.

Presented as a true story: Teenage daughter worried about her grades and the upcoming test. Mother convinces her to spend more time studying. When daughter comes home she says she wasted all that time studying—the test was easy.

The second and fourth are just weird.

A fun party game. Interesting the various meanings even a relatively short sentence can have with small changes in commas or emphasis. Like the book “Eats Shoots and Leaves”

This one reminds me of people who fret over putting the em-FAH-sis on the wrong syl-LAB-le.

It also reminds me of the importance of punctuation:

Woman, without her man, is nothing. (vs.)

Woman: without her, man is nothing.

wait how is that helping you for the test are you going to class and say i’m dead i’m doomed this test is impossible

Or, if it’s a French test: Je suis mort! Je suis condamné! Ce test est impossible!

Looks like she’s gonna have to repeat another year
