5:30 every morning, fortunately I am an early riser. I thought with our tree dying it would no longer attract the birds. I was wrong… they seem to like the insects inside the hollows of the tree.
I woke early one morning, The earth lay cool and still. When suddenly a tiny bird, Perch on my window sill. He sang a song so lovely, So carefree and so gay. That slowly all my troubles, Began to slip away. He sang of far off places, Of laughter and of fun. It seemed his very trilling, Brought up the morning sun. I stirred beneath the covers, Crept slowly out of bed. And gently lowered the window, And and crushed it’s little skull. The end signed Little Johnny

Finches, like cicadas, are about the size of a fat thumb, but they can make a noise well out of proportion to their size.

Our robins start in around 3:30am, long before sunrise. I actually love hearing them.

I’d much rather have the birds wake me than the neighbor’s yappy dog.

Unfortunately, my neighborhood doesn’t have singing birds. The gunfire keeps scaring them away.
