We have way too many leaders today that despise our military and what they have done to make this country free. That’s one of the biggest shames I can think of.
Thank-you William Joseph “Phil” Phillips U.S. Navy WW II POW Pacific front, George “Skinny” Blackmon U.S. Army WW II fought in the battle of Anzio, and Thomas Alva “Sonny” Phillips U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran, and all other veterans who has served the great country.
Well done Brian! Thank you to all your family members service as well! Looking @ my grandfather’s picture. Dr. I.D. Thrasher Medical Base Commander Guadalcanal WW II.
Of the 40 some comics I follow this is the first (I read them alphabetically) to honor today. Thank you Mr. Basset. (turns out 2 others Tank McNamara and Wizard of ID did too)
I have (still living) an Uncle Jimmy who served in the navy during the Korean War. So did Dad. My oldest brother (still living) served in both Persian Gulf Wars in the navy. My twin brother served during peace time(?) during the Reagan era. Thanks to all who willingly served and serve.
I had (have?) an Uncle Ted. I went to visit his grave in France after I got out of collage. Their records indicated that his wife moved his remains back to the States, without bothering to tell my Mom. :(
Like most veterans, I served and was glad to do my duty and expect no thanks or other recognition. However, for veterans who were damaged by the experience, give them all the energy and assistance they need. We all owe them, big time.
Thank you, Brian, for such a beautiful tribute in remembrance of those lost during too many wars. Memorial Day is a very solemn day for my family. My dad served in the Army Air Corps in Europe during WWII—he came home but would never talk about his experiences there.
George Bush Sr. was our last president to serve in a war. All the others, including Bush Lite, used their privilege to avoid military service. And people wonder why the country is going to hell in a handbasket…
God Bless Our Military and Veterans. You have and continue to sacrifice so much for us. RIP those who have gone on before. You have a much better home now.
